our economy and public health for

apparently people are unaware and happily so

of all the actual work done so far by this

administration despite almost overwhelming

oppositional tricks and ugliness – complaining

without knowledge makes it so much more

tantrumy and sad

 

 

 

apparently to be a responsible leader these days

you have to learn to go blind to racist/terrorist

messages in print, voice, and person

 

 

 

a real issue with a "free market" is that those

who have gotten to the top tend to want to stay

there and use dirty tricks, corrupt politics

and other unsavory methods to trample

competition thus rendering the market theirs,

not free

 

 

 

 

we used to have public education that

emphasized civic knowledge -- the point of public

education was to have an educated citizenry to

participate in a well reasoned democracy.  Now

our political reality is a Reality TV game show,

much more like football than Jeopardy.  It has

become the major tactic of a highly competitive

either/or to keep the public ignorant of how

our system is meant to work and

heap on the propaganda.

 

 

 

 

so you think the moment the bill is signed

the money will be distributed?  It is to fund programs

over time, more or less slowly spent.  Meanwhile, as

programs benefit people's lives, the economy will

be growing and people will need fewer services.

Besides, I thought it was paid for

through a billionaire's tax.

 

 

 

Of course some child credits would go for drugs --

people can't afford their medications or their kids'. 

That is addressed in BBB with a severe lowering of

drug prices.

 

 

 

freedom other than the freedom to barely survive

until you don't, is dependent on a well-working

social system that upholds that value and defends

it by acting responsibly.

 

 

 

 

The thing is that the costs are not the costs

but rather investments to improve the lives of

so many millions of Americans while making

it easier for them to work productively and

expand the US economy leading to greater

and greater tax revenues and much less

output for social services.  Then, there

are the environmental benefits to hopefully

keep a working planet without which

no economy is possible.

through a two-party system and their tactic

of keeping the general public politically naive

so it is all made to seem like a sporting event

rather than the hard work of self governance.

on people who insist on being

If I want to live in an alternate reality,

as a fiction writer I have plenty of my own.

better, moving toward health, calm,

that I was from a different planet,

in socio-political issues all through my life, including deep

to spread their general disdain for their neighbors,

or their right to spread fear to make it clear

energies for a brave future when the very Earth

the political and social and economic traditions

we have come to depend on for consistency

Legislating can be extremely difficult.

Do you remember the twists and turns

for Obamacare?  The opposition is wily

and happy to be dishonest for the cause.

Complaining is so very easy.  How about

getting out and getting people together

around doing the gritty work persistently,

working with the reps who are doing

what they can within their limitations,

getting what we need

 

 

 

it's not about the money

the point is to keep the Dems from

making the progress they promised

and the people want so no one will

want to vote for them in '22, when exactly

what is needed to get all those promises

fulfilled is to vote in more progressive Dems

in '22 so we won't need to sweat the

filibuster or "moderates"

 

 

 

no, the defeat in Virginia is not about

the '22 Dems. Why is no one saying the obvious?

Look at the two men running for VA Governor.

Based only on appearance, who would you vote for?

Most voters don't look beyond the obvious.

speaking for or against all of any people,

is stupidly lazy.  It’s not just

“not all x” but not most x.

Most people are not bothering or

benefiting, do not have the time,

energy or interest to care enough to

act about anything beyond our own lives.

to benefit humanity.

It's not their systems that were evil,

option of ignoring them.  If that becomes

Or, she was alone on that dark street, lost and frightened, with nowhere safe to go, no one protecting her just then. A streak of compassion grasps my pondering mind, takes thought

into a whirl of streams.  I am drawn to wondering about mothers,

their archetype of loving protection.  How do beleaguered women

conscious of their inability to give what they lack, of their bleakness,

allow their children birth into useless suffering, into brutality?

Inculcated or innate, maternal imperative, moral responsibility to love

and protect, ought sound strong warning against prolonging

unfortunate gestation.  Certainly women have always shared knowledge,

means of ending what ought not have begun.  Or do they feel need for

outward manifestation of their sins of pleasure, of weakness, of

worthlessness?  Do they bear not blessings but images to punish,

a chain of blood and thorns as reminder and retribution?

Do potential mothers, pregnant with potential children

who have no interest in being born, diseased or

precognizant of earthly depredations, do they as

sympathetic hosts feel this horror of gestation’s

consequences?  Are these unborn the true instigators

of abortive maternal acts?  If their mothers are not able,

or sufficiently sympathetic, to comply, is suicide a

rectification, a severely late-term abortion.

Long ago, in the high ‘60s, I met a happy couple whose hobby was talking with strangers.  They put up signs on billboards to the effect of:  Want to talk?  Call [their number] between 8 pm and 2 am (or whatever the hours were that they were hanging out at home).  That is how I met them.  It was a simpler time, even in deepest Manhattan.  They didn’t get harassing calls, rather mostly people who just wanted to be heard.  Maybe they had a great idea, or something happened (good or bad) they wanted to share, or they wanted a sounding board to figure things out, or they liked conversation, or they were lonely.

 

Seeing a news report about the problems with accessing psychotherapists these days, it occurred to me that we would all do better to have neighborhood and online coping centers.  Places anyone can access to talk, to share emotional content, perhaps to engage in group therapies, art, community projects.  If no one needs payment, there are no barriers from insuranceu or lack of affordability.  Expenses could be shared by those who can, because this is a community effort for all of our benefit.  Health care professionals who like can not so much donate time as do their part as they see it.  The point is, we can all be heard, all share our human burdens of pain and confusion and our human resources of being listeners, growing a healthier future of companionship instead isolating into hate.
