our human pursuits

They trap us in a zero sum game

because it's all about them winning.

Difficulty finding employees?

Hire ex-convicts

disabled

old

Don't lower your standards.

Lose your labels.

Why do we love our government?

Because it is our creation --

of, by, for us.

Like a well-planned system of

roads and bridges to ease our work

and play, our human pursuits.

How many terrible events in our world

are results of children who grew up

unwanted, unloved?

The road is forever part of me

From childhood yearning to become

one with the rush hour highway,

so calm, constant motion

below the setting Sun.

Onward, forward

No time to indulge, to be afraid,

to be alive.

Mesmorized by constancy of motionn

Road songs drown out hurtful noise,

screams from the aching loneliness

of fresh betrayal.

Why is life?  Fulfillment of

unquenchable need?  Hellish

grasping for Paradise, just beyond

our reach?  Recompense for

what immortal sin?  Payment for

what sacrificial debt?

Certainly no boon,

unless

some sacred, oh so precious

dear vision to attain, to make appear.

Life as a quest to find, to realize,

so much better than our oh so common

existensial despair

beyond repair

I see you there

but what is your reason

to stay?

People have different privileges

based on our vast diversity of attributes.

Thus, people lacking privileges based

on attitudes toward color may enjoy

privileges unavailable to those with

other handicaps.

In any case, privilege is based on

social perceptions -- given, not intrinsic.

it seems to me that we could all benefit

from a kind of AA-like sponsorship (or maybe

mentorship, or just friendship) program of people

with mental issues (and don't we all have those

sometimes) giving each other supportive listening,

being with

More than the sum of parts

Pretty much all medications

interact with the individual body

to result in a variety of effects --

some desired, some less so.

I guess we have to decide what

we can tolerate in exchange for

alleviating the designated problem.

Reminds me of the old adage:

magic always requires a price.

A lovable government is based

on true and credible respect

each for all

All for each

because we belong to this

together.

Relationships

Dyads

More than the sum of parts

a world created

outside/within/between

The Essence of Beauty

you/me/ideal reality/magical

fantasy

between

Why do we call it "right wing"

"Conservative"

when what we mean is

greedy, unconcerned with

all that isn't me?

There's always a War --

always more than one,

but there's the one we focus on

Death statistics every grinding day

Bombed out homes,

grids and bridges on the news tv

Pleas for aid

Refugees

Escalating weaponry

usually because some violent

assholes want attention.

commonalities

Why do we seem to need

to pile ever more on people

life has already broken?

"Not all X" is a valid and

important caution.  It reminds

us that for any of us to label

any other "X" is a dangerous

denial of our commonalities.

It is through our commonalities

that we come together,

do better.

Same old abrasive whine

Tune it out

Find much more pleasantly

exciting music to thrill us.

As great amounts of our national

fortune gets sent to the wealthy

class, it is only fair that they pay

the vast bulk of taxes.

How can it make any kind of sense

for those working for low wages

to support those with all the

advantages of great wealth (so

often unearned at that)?

Let's see your idea for a lovable government

manifest your best year ever!

Hey, everyone who hates government

or thinks they have a better system:

Let's see your idea for a lovable government

the sane relationship between capital

and labor would be a thriving mutually

beneficial partnership --

so why can't we get along?

Pollution echoes through us

messes with human genetic code

Not so much greed as selfishness

disconnection, consciousness of

self-reliance in a world of dangerous

strangers

I always thought that normal folk

knew unspoken social rules

but maybe they are better at

game playing

I always knew I had no aptitude

for lying manipulation

Maybe that is all it has ever been

no prize to comprehend or win

just a fancy dance for debutants

and kings to show their wares.

The extras stand outside in the snow

and stare, teary-eyed.

Discerning this, I'd rather find

a more exhilarating vision.

We need not conform to connotations.

So much confusion, chaos, panic

Opportunity for those with clear goals.

Representatives of all communities

not based on zip codes

but commonalities of interest

and need, so every stakeholder

gets a vote (and chance to say their

piece, try to convince) in how we

proceed.

Yes, we express, extol fine ideals

but it's the practical details that

make a movement move,

give a people structure to improve

their days and years

Grow leadership of those who

display good will while competent,

reliable, inherently fair-minded,

not blinded by shiny distractions.

My New Year wish:  Where we keep our consciousness,

those thoughts that carry us along
is what we will manifest –

not woo woo, but the basis of subjective realities

montages of meaning

a striving soul cries out:

"This is me, an other cry in the wilderness

of humanity"

and is banned

it seems that there are vast areas

of enterprise used to make a living

that most people are pretty much unaware of

we seem to believe we have this very tiny

area of possible employment

Tell me, do I have it right?

Are most people, dark and bright

in monochrome?  Close to home?

An oft told tale?

Is this what love is -- feeling

an other as part of you?

Dressed in poetic senses --

how I perceive and

self express

I understand that acquiescence

to threats puts me in eternal danger.

If you need my help, treat me as

a valuable asset.

Everybody gets subjugated,

tortured

when designated in opposition

to the norm

"We are one human family

and we are all equal"

Not the same.

We are each different

in our own ways

but that difference doesn't make

us greater or lesser

but rather each our own

blessing within the community

Sure, you can find rationales for

your colonial mindset that holds

us all in a suicide warzone instead

of getting together to work to solve

the very real problems faced by

our species -- the human race,

which seems to be a race to destruction.

I don't need you to give to me

I need you to give my presents to

I need the pull of audience

to make my voice

Early morning in some unknown town

wandering awakening streets

as if in a dream

Reflexive self doubt

I'm bad  I'm ignorant  I'm stupid

I'm getting it wrong for evil reasons

Stop  Look  Listen

    Think, calmly, reasonably

    dispassionately, with compassion

Mindful awareness

What can I learn

discern the source of

disquieting behavior, like pain

telling me:  "attend!"

All these layered associations,

montages of meaning

Back then I studied complexity

so now I can afford to explore

simplicity

Untethered to ancestors

I am self-defined,

self-created, self-educated

in a world that denies

what I have learned to be
