megamarathon landscape

guns don't make us safer

they make us stupider, cockier,

less focused on what can be done

within the circumstance

people seem to think “governments” are

autonomous machines

it’s not “government”, it’s people

who hate people

what we all need is to break out of

our socially induced trance and

deal with reality as it presents

I have been formed

living in a woman's body

within this social world.

Ultimately, if we are

anyone at all

we create our own identity.

That tree suddenly green

Winter's comforts, not yet laid away,

apparently abandoned.

Wafting into later sunset,

gentle lights, evening dreaming.

Let all meanness, dread, drift away,

sift away from this conscious stream

slipping toward uplifting.

The human race is a

megamarathon -- a

journey, not a destination.

The only experience I know

is my own.

The creation of friendship

getting to know one another

becoming familiar

People with the audacious arrogance

to speak/act hurtfully against people

who they deem not up to their standards

ought be held to better standards

that preclude hurting people.

Insisting that governments ban abortion

is a clear indication that you believe

women are not and ought not be

treated as fully human.

God of War/Chaos of rebellion

for the most part we are not lonely

due to lack of human interaction,

but because we lack fulfilling relationships

in which we feel seen.

Yet, there are so many of us struggling,

suffering, in a vast sea of others also struggling

and suffering from this lack, as if separate

molecules unaware of the possibility of binding,

bumping and twisting around each other.

it just occurred to me:  perhaps all these

ridiculous outrages are a protective reaction

to all the agonizing, overwhelming realities

we wish to distract ourselves from?

Eureka moment humbles me

I know

it will not last, not enthrall for long

back tomorrow to my rants of disrepair,

of defeat in face of my inadequate -- what?

Intrusive stories, instructions on self-defense

against

self acceptance, acceptance of a world so vastly

inadequate, so implacable to magic yearnings.

Blessed seconds of grace, of break through to

the real, the true, the glory of free sail, glide

upon adventure's sea, escape from war-torn

human deceit, false screens that divide us

from life, so well. Respite, yes, on rare and

wondrous occasion -- then back behind my

self-appointed cage.

yes, of course, the state of mental health care

(of health care generally more and more)

in the US is deplorable. However, while not

a totally separate issue, because the general

attitude toward human suffering in this supposed

wealthy, advanced country obviously leads to the kinds

of mentalities that enjoy inflicting mass murder,

the basic issue here seems to be a clear need to do

better on curtailing the kinds of deadly weapons

that make it so easy, at the very least to have guards

against guns going to the violently insane.

We have to take care of

our resources, our people, our planet,

if we expect to progress,

or exist at all.

What if I have been wrong all these years?

What if humanity's natural state is War?

Building fortresses to strike out from

Spinning stories of honor, glory,

savagely heroic blood, guts, gory

imagery

Yearn of heart, mind, soul for

rich spoils, power's reward.

For that rush of excessive force,

plunge of swords, burst of bombs,

ecstasy!

So much better than life's drudgery

-- grand, free, worship of human

sacrifice to gods of Death.

Nothing matters

No thing matters

Feel!

No hierarchy of goals

No rules, no roads

No wrongs.  No rights.

No grand good-byes.

Pluto in Aquarius -- AI dominance

countered by Saturn in Pisces -- primacy of feeling

When we become so chaotic

as to devolve into a failed state,

armed gangs will take over to

rule by terror.

I see Americans whose words

and actions make it clear their

desire is to become those

armed gangs, once they've

sowed their chaos.

Money doesn't work.

We use money to pay people

to work.  But people are

perfectly capable of doing the

work they can do despite money

-- as long as we have what we

need to keep getting along.

Friday's Follies

Seated upon your vast pile of gold

Overseeing the ultimate destruction

of everything and everyone

you engaged to make it --

what will you do now?

Gently strumming

a Joni Mitchell tune.

Quietly warming fire.

Bare wood, waning Sun,

early Spring country room.

Why do I feel you?

A presence from deep past,

gentle, fiery, warmth that lasts

as ambient music.

The essence of poetry -- words

never capture, but we try.

People who never leave, somehow keep,

encanted home, carried in

this traveler's mind.

We need gods

to give our suffering meaning.

But suffering has the meaning

of creating who we are.

God, the Creator,

author of fantasy -- these stories

we act out as lives.

Most people have no interest

in excellence, in doing more

than the rest, in being outcast

as better, as elite.

We (humanity) don't need any

specific industry -- going back

to our basic uberpower of

adaptability.  If our habitual

world dissolves, that creates

possibilities to invest in,

for better or worse.

Why should anything ever be easy?

Why would I think it might?

This dirty old world, concussed,

not quite right -- I feel my heart,

my guts, my every bit, crying.

After the flood of tears?

Again and again like destiny --

no way out but through?

Who survives each knife, each

overdose of poison, each prayer for

oblivion, each enchantment into

fantasy to deny all those hours and years.

Somehow I've surpassed, skated through

falls and scrapes, vomit and tears,

highways and bridges, fog,

destructive decisions that ought to have

killed, but just mortally weakened,

made less by degrees, by lauded

experience, by humanity's world

and rules.

Screech that I'm the fool without a clue,

unworthy to breathe your rotting air.

Lost, the power to care, to understand

how to continue to participate, despite

exhaustion, constant longing to sleep,

perchance to dream, become one

immersed with ecstasy; unbound to

duty that only I perceive.

fool moon

don't conservatives want to go back

to the good old days? As I recall, there

were much more stringent restrictions

on firearms back then (not to mention

the highly taxed wealthy)

We are kind not for the benefit of

others (a happy side effect), but so

we can feel the grace of that kindness.

It's not about religious canons --

it's about the cannon fodder

to feed the empire

Liberty to do what one knows one

ought, freedom to follow one's

conscience, despite the power of

the crowd, the fear of the powerful

Why not take it all on faith

(as we do)

What do we gain raising up

energy against beliefs?

Even the clearly impossible,

from time to time

becomes.  Accept or not.

We each are but one aspect.

I heard it suggested that people

who believe in the freedom implied

by the 2nd Amendment see those

awful side effects of innocents killed

as unfortunate necessities to maintain,

to secure their freedom, their right.

I say this is another excellent, vital

reason to arrange for, give ongoing

voice to open conversation (not debate

or argument or name-calling free fight,

but reasoned conversation) so all

stakeholders (all of us affected) get to

explain, even plea for, each and all of

our rights, our freedom -- like the freedom

to each as best we can live and fulfill

our lives.

Damned humanity -- destroying

everything, everyone

in pursuit of a tragically stupid

consensual fantasy.
