use it up; wear it out

a sense of exhaustion
each exhausted by our own weary,
wearing experience
Too worn and weary to want
to carry on.
Rebellion may seem attractive,
out there, somewhere,
but far too depleting to
contemplate today.
Sleep is what appeals --
let us rest, exhale.

Parallel, not Hierarchical
Better for me, not better than you.

freedom can only be absolute if one is alone

freedom in community, society, family is dependent
on a contract or commitment to mutually respect
each other's freedom -- responsibility.

many years ago I was looking out onto a river
and thinking about egolessness

I heard the river as we hear voice in silence
say:  I am a river, I flow as nature and have
no need of an ego.  You are human, in a world
of other humans, and you need your special
center voice to give you the means to be you.

everyone not on the Trump bandwagon gets
threatened and pretty soon the rabid radical
Republicans will be carrying out these executions
if we don't protect ourselves and take away their power

why would you not vote, if only to give support to
a 3rd party alternative, a write-in, some indication
that you matter as a citizen because the vote is your
fundamental duty as a citizen of a democracy and it's
by giving up on that duty in droves that we destroy
our chance for having a voice

paid in attention

I find when feeling poorly it helps to

become calm and distract by sending

my attention outward.

I keep reminding, just because the Dems
get fooled or betrayed into keeping this
unconscionable, anti-democratic 60 vote to
cloture filibuster which allows McConnell to
sneer happily, doesn't mean McConnell won't
kill it the moment it inconveniences him.

I know, death, but skeptics can make all kinds
of excuses about comorbidities, often old and infirm,
not THAT many and on. My huge fear are the chronic
long-term and even lifetime new disabilities, infirmities,
disease and exacerbation of disease that Covid
so often leaves behind in a great
many more people.

We all know there is corruption in government.
(What was that saying about corruption and
power; and we all know about the love of
money.)  That does not mean that all politics,
government, is corrupt.  Assuming that is not
only lazy thinking and counterproductive to
better democratic governance, it becomes an
easy excuse for giving up, because they're all
corrupt, even though they are us.  There's nothing
we can do, we decide, but complain on social
media, without bothering to learn what we
could do, if we truly wanted to.

maybe we ought to be at least teaching the bases
of the economic philosophies, as well as detailed
civic education about how our government is meant
to work and the responsibilities of citizenship even
if we are discouraged from teaching real American history.

How absurd your angry reaction assuming I am
defending whoever you inveigh against, when
I am speaking from outside of polarity.

Aren't there pro-democracy people of wealth?
Are they heavily lobbying obstructionist
Senators for democracy's cause?

Leadership does make a huge difference in
how people believe and therefore act.  Tell
people it is honorable, even necessary, to
be assholes, and, well...

voting rights rant

we need a 21st Century Voting Rights campaign,
evolved from the '60s, to fit our current
threat to all of our rights.

voting is not a privilege, or merely a right
voting is our basic duty as citizens in a
democracy (or democratic republic)
attempting to prevent citizens from
exercising our basic duty ought to
be considered Treason

I see all these anti-government "mavericks"
proclaim against voting because it makes no
difference, or validates a bad system.  Yet,
obviously voting can be a source of power,
or why would those who have forced their way
into government try to deny it to those who
oppose them.  Bad government results from
lack of participation, not "the system" allowed
to continue because bad actors are not
adequately opposed.

a proposal:  “Reverse Talking Filibuster”
that the Democratic Senators employ a “reverse talking filibuster”
such that they take turns talking about Voting Rights
and all the circumstances making this Voting Rights
legislation necessary.  The point would be to take over the
Senate 24/7 with strong media attention until McConnell agrees
to cloture and a majority vote.

the only good filibuster
is a talking filibuster
instead of promoting bipartisanship or
debate this 60 vote to cloture exactly
denies debate and promotes hate and disfunction

the point is to keep the Dems from
making the progress they promised
and the people want so no one will
want to vote for them in '22, when exactly
what is needed to get all those promises
fulfilled is to vote in more progressive Dems
in '22 so we won't need to sweat the
filibuster or "moderates"

 These Republican anti-voter shenanigans
reminds me of the scene in "Guys and Dolls"
at the crap game where Big Jule has insisted
they play with his spotless dice.
Harry the Horse says that  "With honest dice, Big Jule
cannot make a pass to save his soul."

the issue really is that these new
restrictions on voting are meant to be
just that, so politicians can choose
their voters and who they don't want voting,
as if they own the country.

public interest lawyers and activists:
time to get busy and creative finding ways
to get around the restrictions and get out
the vote better than ever!

let's reassess

You are angry at the POTUS because he’s
not doing what you want?
He’s not your dad or god – and they don’t
give you what you want either.
Yes, we hired him – but that’s a very large
WE, of which you are only a very small part.

Hate, Hate feels so great – such a waste
of precious energy.  What does hate solve?
How does hate make us feel/be/do/have
better?  How about foregoing hate, calmly
directing that energy to finding answers
each and together?

Pro-authoritarian because we are
much too lazy for democracy.

De-emphasize fossil fuels – save our
planet, and impoverish Putin (so, saving
our planet again).

I study astrology because it fascinates me.
I also find it a useful tool for organizing information,
like history.  Astrology is not really about planets,
but about cycles, which reappear in different forms --
history.  We study history to discover how we can
do it better.

do you think the powers that be are promoting this
whole anti-vax/pro-Covid project to improve the gene pool?

22 to see differently

this whole controversy over public schools staying open
or going to remote learning is not an issue,
just do both.  Remote learning doesn’t
have to be at home.  You can have the
set-up anywhere, like in your school.
The parents who want their kids in school
can send them.  The teachers who want
to teach in person can.  The kids and
staff who don’t want the risk can learn
and teach remotely.  Everybody wins.

money is meant to be a tool
(one possibility that we have grown accustomed to)
for accounting to allow for nondirect trade
the point is not the money or even the trade
but the distribution of resources
for individual and public good

What did we think would result
when we tried to divide the vast
differences of Americans into
two highly competitive Parties?

Isn't is really
about the power to be
irresponsibly mean?

You who think yourself so cool
to make terrorizing threats on
public servants' phones ought to
be told:
Is this really the game you want
to play?  Because, understand,
you are not the only American with
Second  Amendment rights, and
this recorded  message is certainly
a great basis for a claim of
self-defense.

the only good filibuster
is a talking filibuster
instead of promoting bipartisanship or
debate this 60 vote to cloture exactly
denies debate and promotes hate and disfunction

Everybody feels alone, unwanted,
misunderstood.
Why are we not drawn to become
company?

finding '22

"Nobody is talking about" blah, blah, blah ---
"Nobody understands" blah, blah, blah
what is meant is nobody is saying what
I want to see said -- Well, that's your job.
Or, "they aren't" blah, blah, blah --
well, what are you doing about it?

No, the "pro-life" crowd is not even in
support of the fetus in the womb, much less
actual children -- where is their support,
demand!, for programs to provide
good nutrition, health care, safe environments
for pregnant women and children?

More oppressed than thou?  I suggest those
subject to traumatic terrorizing are most oppressed.

To my mind "Freedom" is about self-determination,
self-expression, not wealth accumulation (or an
excuse for meanness).

Too much relentless reality --
we need escape, familiar fantasy.

we make our lives worse by not taking the
responsibilities of democracy seriously and
letting our so-called representatives act like
spoiled middle school brats because, hey,
that represents us, doesn't it.
