How is it human to love?
What does that word/emotion/ideal
mean to us?
Why can it become all-consuming,
excuse for abuse or self-undoing?
Where is it healing, even deity
of joy and grace?
When will we overcome the destruction,
when love becomes hate?
How is it human to create war?
What insane DNA demands such
self-imposed horror?
Why would tender flesh, beating blood,
desire ruin and terror, brutal massacre?
Where can we fashion salvation,
mending paradigm?
When will we finally decide,
embrace life?
