paid in attention

I find when feeling poorly it helps to

become calm and distract by sending

my attention outward.

I keep reminding, just because the Dems
get fooled or betrayed into keeping this
unconscionable, anti-democratic 60 vote to
cloture filibuster which allows McConnell to
sneer happily, doesn't mean McConnell won't
kill it the moment it inconveniences him.

I know, death, but skeptics can make all kinds
of excuses about comorbidities, often old and infirm,
not THAT many and on. My huge fear are the chronic
long-term and even lifetime new disabilities, infirmities,
disease and exacerbation of disease that Covid
so often leaves behind in a great
many more people.

We all know there is corruption in government.
(What was that saying about corruption and
power; and we all know about the love of
money.)  That does not mean that all politics,
government, is corrupt.  Assuming that is not
only lazy thinking and counterproductive to
better democratic governance, it becomes an
easy excuse for giving up, because they're all
corrupt, even though they are us.  There's nothing
we can do, we decide, but complain on social
media, without bothering to learn what we
could do, if we truly wanted to.

maybe we ought to be at least teaching the bases
of the economic philosophies, as well as detailed
civic education about how our government is meant
to work and the responsibilities of citizenship even
if we are discouraged from teaching real American history.

How absurd your angry reaction assuming I am
defending whoever you inveigh against, when
I am speaking from outside of polarity.

Aren't there pro-democracy people of wealth?
Are they heavily lobbying obstructionist
Senators for democracy's cause?

Leadership does make a huge difference in
how people believe and therefore act.  Tell
people it is honorable, even necessary, to
be assholes, and, well...
