International Pagan Coming Out Day, May 2, 2011

As we prepare to celebrate the festival of Beltane, a newer celebration is coming hard on its heels. This year, May 2nd has been designated International Pagan Coming Out Day. Coming right after Beltane, it’s a love fest in its own right, for by coming out, we are affirming our right to love ourselves for what we are.

UnStonewalled

People around me ready to fight
People surround me who say"I'm alright,"
Happy to fight side by side in the night --
what more could we aspire to?
To spend pent up desire,
to feel alive at last
finally part of the cast
out in the show
Anger to pelt, rotten fruit of soiled liberty
Unswayed by danger
Free to take our stand
Free to take your hand
to walk in the light
Not to be skipped, kept aside from humanity
The worth of a human heart,
the highest form of art
ardor shared in consanguinity
demanding respect with pride
